Hi, I’m Amber. I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Amber Nelson, a registered nurse and the owner of Caring Hands, Servant Heart. I started this business to offer personal, compassionate, non-medical home care to individuals and families in Ida Grove and surrounding areas.

I’m married to my wonderful husband, Nathanial, and have two sons, Aiden and Rylan. My love for caregiving began around 2015, when I worked in home care in Webster City. Getting to know the people I cared for and becoming a familiar part of their day showed me how meaningful this work could be.

In December 2019, I moved to Ida Grove to become an activity director at an assisted living facility. Shortly afterward, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everyday life for the residents and those of us caring for them. During that time, I saw how much difference one person could make by showing up, listening, and finding ways to bring joy into a difficult day. I made it my goal to give residents a reason to smile. Hearing their laughter and knowing our time together mattered deepened my passion for caregiving.

Those experiences continue to shape how I care today. I believe good care begins with getting to know the person—their routines, preferences, and the things that make home feel like home. Whether you need help with everyday tasks, personal care, companionship, or a break from caregiving, my goal is to help you feel supported, heard, and respected.

My Christian faith is at the heart of why I serve. It guides me to approach others with kindness, patience, and a servant’s heart. People of all beliefs are welcome, and your values and preferences will always be respected.

Choosing care for someone you love is personal. I’m here to listen, answer your questions, and help you explore what support could look like for your family.

In loving memory of: Lois and Lodean, Chris, Ruth, Patty May, Arlene, and Twyla.

Some gave me the privilege of caring for them. Others encouraged me through nursing school and helped me believe in myself.

Each helped shape my love for caregiving. Their memory will always be part of my story—and the heart behind Caring Hands, Servant Heart.
